12th Annual Pisgah Hill Preserve Full Moon Trek, Date TBD 2024: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 74 Dougherty Road, New Gloucester.

The 12th Annual Pisgah Hill Preserve Full Moon Trek is free, welcoming to all, and kid-friendly. Join us to howl at the moon as we celebrate our land conservation successes in watershed, from the Royal’s headwaters to Casco Bay.

The official moon rise is at XX pm, but because the moon must rise over nearby Bradbury Mountain, you’ll start to see the moon from the Pisgah Hill summit around XX pm. The sun sets at XX pm, best seen from near the summit. It only takes a half hour to hike 0.6 miles to the summit. So show up any time after 4:00 pm and before 7:00 pm! The trail is likely to be well-packed to allowing hiking in boots, or strap on some snow shoes, bring a headlamp, dress in warm clothes, and hike to the top of Pisgah Hill. We’ll provide campfires, s’mores and hot cocoa. We’ll light the trail with snow cairns and lanterns.

The campfire and summit is 0.6 miles from the trailhead and parking, with some minor elevation climb and some ledges that may be icy or rocky. Depending upon conditions, you may or may not need special footwear such as snowshoes or grippers. While we provide some trailside lighting, be prepared for darkness. The entire loop trail (return trip) is 1.2 miles.

Dogs are welcome if strictly leashed, with strict attention to pet waste removal.

Recommended safety equipment: Cell phones, whistles, water, flash lights, headlamps, warm clothes, printed maps (see link below for maps).

Bonus points: Post your photos to Instagram or Facebook #pisgahhillpreserve or email your favorite photos to info@RRCT.org
