Although Auburn Police Activities League (PAL) is not a conserved working farm, they deserve recognition for their incredible outdoor gardening and photography programs. AuburnPAL runs after school and summer programs for the youth of Auburn. Royal River Conservation Trust and Androscoggin Land Trust help to support the gardening and outdoor photography programs. The gardening program teaches children to grow, cook and preserve fruits and vegetables with volunteer master gardeners. The preserves are then sold at the Auburn farmers market. The photography program takes children outdoors and into state parks to photograph plants, animals and any outdoor scene that inspires them. Students display their photography at the Auburn Art Walk, and at other venues.
