Chandler Mill Pond, Little Hill, and Snows Hill

Description

Part of a non-contiguous 2,000-acre series of gifts made by the Chandler Family to the Maine Woodland Owners Land Trust, Chandler Mill Pond, Little Hill, and Snows Hill are jointly managed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Maine Woodland Owners Land Trust. The 47-acre Chandler Mill Pond, formerly known as Lily Pond, represents one of the Royal River’s few headwater ponds. The adjacent Little Hill and Snows Hill provide excellent hiking experiences without formal trails. In 2018, Royal River Conservation Trust recommended to the U.S. Geological Survey that Charles Peleg Chandler (1857-1926) be honored for his contributions to the community, its local businesses, and the environment.
