Description

The 16-acre Long Hill Road Preserve, established in 2007, is managed for wildlife and ecology with no trails. Visitors will be prepared for an off-trail experience near residential subdivision open space in both Cumberland and Gray.

Long Hill Road Preserve has no trails. Parking is available on the narrow shoulders of Long Hill Road and Haskell Road. (Exercise caution near both roads due to high posted speed limits.)

Stewardship and Conservation History

The Long Hill Road Preserve was established in 2007 as a requirement of establishing the adjacent subdivision.

Rules +  regulations

Permitted: Camping (with advance permission), fishing, foraging, hiking, hunting (largely limited due to proximity of residences), backcountry skiing, and snowshoeing. Dogs (on leash or under voice control – leash only near residences and paved roads), leaving no evidence of their visit.

Not permitted:  Fires, parking on area private roads (including Perennial Drive), and smoking.

Required:  Wearing of orange during all hunting seasons and adherence to postings on private abutting land.
